Yes, when practiced with proper training and supervision, scuba diving is very safe. SSI emphasizes comfort, control, and confidence in the water, and all of our instructors are trained to the highest safety standards.

Do I need to be in great physical shape?

You don’t need to be an athlete, but you should be in generally good health. All students must complete a medical questionnaire, and in some cases, a doctor’s clearance may be required.

Do I need to know how to swim to learn scuba diving?

Yes, basic swimming skills are required for scuba diving. You should be comfortable in the water and able to swim at least 200 meters and either float or tread water for 10 minutes without any swim of buoyancy aids.
